"Who Created God?" is a weekly small group dedicated to addressing challenging questions of religion and philosophy.
The approach taken by Who Created God is to treat all things with a skeptical mindset. We are not looking to aggressively argue for any one worldview. Even when engaging in discussions that famously bring out polarizing opinions, our goal is to inspire everyone to think openly and critically about all facets of life - to question dogma and make sure we can honestly examine why we believe what we believe. This group is open to everyone, regardless of your present beliefs or level of confidence.
Last Fall we focused on large-scale issues relating to philosophy and questions of God's existence. Moving into the Spring, we will be shifting to more down-to-earth topics responsible for creating division and confusion in many religious traditions, with Christianity being our primary focus. We'll be exploring topics like: "Do Christians really believe the world was created in Six Days?", "Why would a loving God allow people to Suffer?," and "How could a just God send people to Hell?" (You can find a full list of topics below.)
"Who Created God?" is currently being run at the Texas Wesley United Methodist Campus Ministry at the University of Texas at Austin.
Starting on Feb 4th in Spring 2020, we will regularly meet on Tuesday Evenings from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Wesley's new location at 2200 Nueces Street (the first floor of the Inspire building on the corner of 22nd and Nueces). For more info, you can contact [email protected] |
